Can homemade recipes cause infections?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Watch out for the signs: flaking on the scalp, breakage of the hair near the root and the formation of small crusts. These signs may represent a fungal infection in the hair and scalp. Like the skin, the scalp is exposed to fungal infections, normally called mycosis. A tinea capitis is one of the most common.<\/p>\n

Are scalp fungi very common?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most exposed are children up to 7 years of age, but capillary fungi can appear on people of any age.<\/p>\n

How it happens?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dermatological fungi such as those that cause tinea capitis are organisms that feed on dead cells of the organism, present in the skin, nails and hair. Like all mushrooms, tinea capitis prefers warm and humid environments. Just as your head sweats, it naturally gets dirty, representing the ideal habitat for its proliferation.<\/p>\n

How can this infection be generated through homemade recipes?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The scalp, due to not having a digestive system, is unable to separate the positive properties from the negative ones of the ingredients used in home recipes. For example, if an ingredient contains a mushroom, the scalp is not able to eliminate it – which is very easy for our digestive system – and for this reason we must proceed very carefully with the applications of home recipes. Better to rely on specific quality products, suitable for hair and formulated according to these principles.<\/p>\n

What are the symptoms of the infection?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most frequent symptoms of mycosis are an area of \u200b\u200balopecia on the scalp, which is itchy, flaky and red. The hair will have breakage near the root, leaving the scalp area less thick.<\/p>\n

Other symptoms can be:<\/p>\n

– itching;
– swollen lymph nodes, mainly in the neck area;
– possible low fever if there is also a bacterial infection underway.<\/p>\n

In severe cases of infections, pus and scabs may be generated which will make the area a permanent bald spot.<\/p>\n

How to treat?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fungi are very resistant organisms. For this reason, the treatment of mycosis can be long and must be approached with determination.<\/p>\n

Basically there are three types of path to deal with a mycosis:<\/p>\n

– Antifungal medicines: to be used only under medical guidance. Treatment usually lasts four to eight weeks and blood tests will most likely be carried out.
– Use of medicinal shampoos: they are shampoos based on selenium sulphate and other chemical components such as zinc. Normally they have a hair-drying effect, but it is an excellent weapon to fight these microorganisms.
– During personal treatment, it is important to also check the surrounding environment. This also includes avoiding close contact with other people to avoid fungal growth.<\/p>\n

In all cases, the basic suggestion is to contact a medical specialist, a dermatologist who will be able to give the perfect diagnosis and suggest the most appropriate treatment. Let’s avoid treating ourselves and turn to doctors with confidence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
