Direct or diffuser hairdryer: differences?
The diffuser is one of the best allies for women who want defined curls, together with a correct capillary chronogram.
It is important to clarify that the diffuser is nothing more than an accessory of the hairdryer.
The difference is in how the heat used to dry your hair is directed. By positioning the diffuser you obtain more widespread heat (as can be understood from the name of the accessory) and therefore with less impact on the hair. Too much directed heat could leave the curls less formed and with frizz, while the diffuser maintains the integrity of the curl giving the hair a better appearance.
Ways to use the diffuser based on the type of hedgehog
To use this accessory correctly, you need to know what type of hedgehog you have.
Hedgehog type 2A to type 3C
After washing your hair, remove excess water/moisture with a soft, dry cloth, without rubbing. At this point, it is ideal to place a leave in with a thermal protection function which allows the cuticle to close.
Separate the hair into strands and use the diffuser at medium or low speed/temperature and use it in all the strands.
After drying your hair, finish the process with a hair oil to give more shine and softness to the curls.
Hedgehog type 4A to type 4C
With this type of curl, the secret is to carry out the “fitagem”, that is, the Brazilian technique of gathering the locks in the fist by gently squeezing it, making a movement from bottom to top to encourage the formation of the curl.
This action must be carried out with a leave in mixed with a hair oil to detangle the hair. A small amount of gel can be applied. Brazilian hair products have ready-made blends to use this technique.
At this point we need to use our fingers to massage our curls; shake your head to give air and definition to the curl, apply a thermal protectant and start using the diffuser at medium speed and temperature, strand by strand.
Last step: pull the locks upwards and with the hairdryer without diffuser, dry only the root of the hair strands. This will help give more volume and length to the hair without destroying the curls already shaped by the diffuser.
