Why is the toner applied to wet hair and the dye to dry hair?
The purpose of the toner and the dye is the same, what differentiates them is in the composition of the formula. Ammonia is present in the dye, while it is not in the toner. To continue the differences, the coverage is not the same, nor is the duration. Furthermore, the application is completely different.
Toning application
The toner forms a film depositing the pigmentation in the cuticle and is the main reason why it lasts less. According to expert Hans Daniel Camelo, the application of this product must be done on clean and damp/wet hair. Due to the fact that it does not contain ammonia, if the hair is not clean and dry, the penetration of pigmentation is more difficult.
Tint application
Due to the fact that it contains ammonia in the composition, the permanent dye has 100% coverage of white threads. Acting inside the hair fiber, this type of product is more aggressive than toner. The correct application is on dry hair (and not perfectly clean) because in this case the color fixation will be stronger. The oiliness of hair that is not perfectly clean will help limit the damage that the chemical causes on the hair strand.
